Jay Willis

Jay Willis has been playing saxophone for over forty years.   He lived in California for ten years, played jazz and studied elementary music education at Mesa Community College in San Diego.   Upon his return to Pittsburgh Jay performed with Roger Humphries for over a year in the eighties.   He taught flute, clarinet and sax in Western Penitentiary for eight years in the nineties. Jay performed with organist Gene Ludwig, off and on, for the approximately fifteen years, and recorded with Gene on his CD entitled “Soul Serenade”.   In addition, he has performed with various artists throughout the Region, and is currently teaching at AAMI, the African American Music Institute, and has done so for the past nine years.
